These photos are from the Master of the Nets in Suzhou - first built in 1140! It's thought to be the best representation of classical garden art.
HelloAll!
HelloAll!
We 爱热currently inWuhan, A那是磁铁一
Ithink他和computer is translating 哈里发 偶发没有words into Chinese!!!
Oh pooooooh!
Anyway, it's H*O*T here!! We took the train here this morning and as we were coming into Wuhan, it said the temperature was 46 degrees C!! That's like 120 F!
We spent our last day in Suzhou at a garden - the gardens are old residences that are walled in, so when you pass by one on the street, you don't even know it's there. There are 130 gardens in Suzhou and we went to the Master of the Nets, considered to be the "perfect" Suzhou garden.
For those of you who have been to China, a striking thing I noticed is that very few people ride bicycles - everyone has a scooter......except those poor guys who hauled our butts in the bicycle rickshaw!!! After the garden, we had lunch and then walked around the city for a while. It really is unique with all the canals and bridges. A downside of being here without a guide is that we have trouble ordering food at restaurants. We found a dumpling restaurant with a picture menu but that's it.
I am sitting at the assistant manager's desk to write this - no business center! The front desk people are staring at me, so I guess I should get off!!
Love
